APPLYING FOR A GRANT
The grant system is only available to residents of the United Kingdom and Eire.
Grants are only given to help with the cost of adaptations that will make a motorcycle, trike, combo or quad suitable for a disabled rider. The NABD never award grants to help with the cost of insurance, repairs, cosmetic engineering or for adaptations to other types of vehicles.
Grants are made without favour to any region, group or person. Each grant application is dealt with individually and strictly on its own merit.
The NABD do not issue retrospective grants and will not pay for any work that has already been completed.

To apply for a grant, you will need to provide us with the following:-
· A completed, signed and dated grant application form
· A completed, signed and dated VAT declaration form (so work can be carried out and adaptation kits can be purchased excluding VAT)
· If using an engineer, a detailed quotation (not an estimate), of the costs of kits, other parts and labour. This is required on company stationery only.
Failure to supply these correctly completed documents, WILL delay your application.
Once your application has been received, a grant reference number will be issued. This number will be on all paperwork relating to your grant. Grants are processed in grant reference order unless there is an issue with your paperwork.
The NABD committee assess grant applications on a monthly basis, usually the first Sunday of the month. Occasionally a meeting is delayed for varying reasons. We do not have a meeting in May due to the annual fundraising event, You’ve Been Nabbed.
The week following the meeting, all paperwork is processed and you will be notified by post the result of your application.
You will receive a grant confirmation and a satisfaction form. The grant confirmation will explain what you have been awarded. The satisfaction form is to be completed by you when all the work is done and returned to us with photographs of the adaptation work.
Your engineer if you have one, will be notified by post, with an engineer grant confirmation and an engineer completion form. The engineer grant confirmation explains to the engineer what the NABD will cover regarding the grant. The completion form is to be sent back to us with the engineer’s invoice for the work completed.
Orders for any kits awarded are also sent out by post during the week following the meeting. The kits are sent directly to the named engineer if you have one or to your home address if self-fitting.
Very occasionally grants are refused, usually because the applicant has had a previous grant and circumstances have not changed, but there are other reasons too. You will be notified in writing after the meeting and informed how to appeal should you wish to.
