Kevin Baker- A Dog With Two 'Wotsits'

It all started a fair few years ago..... First of all a damaged spine and then onto it being unrepairable, with my left leg failing all M.O.T's and right leg coming a very close second. So riding my VN 1500 was a no-no as balance and foot controls being a big part of riding a motorcycle it was time to park it up and watch everybody else go off to the rallies. "SIGH!"

But up popped the idea of a trike, so onwards and upwards and after a few phone calls to friends, I got to meet Big John in Southampton who had a nice XJ trike for sale. I managed to scrape up some money and off I went to Sotton to buy my new machine.

The balance on the way home was great but 'alas' I had forgotten all about the foot controls. As you can imagine the ride home was a bit scary!

So back on the phone and after a few more calls and a point in the right direction, I called NABD. After a quote from Peter at Howling Banshee Customs (01205 750266) at Coleford and a few forms from NABD I was given a grant and a Kliktronic gear changer system.

So back to Peter at Howling Banshee for the fitting of the Kliktronic gerchanger and the handle bar mounted brake system.

Now I am like an old dog who has got two new wotsits! Back on the road with the wind in my face and flies in my teeth.

Many thanks to the NABD, Howling Banshee Customs, and to Big John in Sotton for building the XJ trike. Kevin Baker

This NABD Grant of £758.50 was sponsored by a donation from Calne Rotary Club
