Way back in 1954 as a boy of 14, I had my first taste of motor cycles, a part time job cleaning bikes for a local shop. Money earned was put by for my first bike, a BSA Bantam when I was 16.
From then on I was always riding bikes until I was about 40 when Ostoearthritis took hold. This put a stop to most of my riding; I retired from work in 1981 for medical reasons and stopped riding altogether.
Years passed, I had the odd ride on my son’s Triumph 750 but never lost the urge to ride. Then I found a disabled motorcycle group that made me think again. The NABD programme on Men & Motors gave me the incentive to ride again.
I finally got a Triumph Bonneville T 100, joined NABD, applied for a grant for a sidecar and leading-link forks to be fitted. The grant was passed; I contacted Unit Sidecars of Hedingham, Essex who made a superb job of my bike and sidecar. All I need to do now is learn to ride it.
Thank you NABD for the grant and to Unit Sidecars for their excellent work.
