A big thankyou to NABD for the thumb brake. this has enabled me to carry on riding my trike.

After my accident in 1998, the NABD helped me to get back on the road by providing me with a Klicktronic gear changer. This was a necessary item as I am now partially paraplegic with no movement in my left ankle. I fitted the Klicktronic to my then Suzuki 1100M motorbike. After a short while riding it on the road I realised that I was finding it very difficult to balance the bike at junctions etc. so I decided to convert the motorbike into a trike. This I did in 2000 and I could once again enjoy the open roads.

I went to the NABD rally at York Dragway and got hooked on drag racing. This I have been doing ever since, taking part in the N.S.A. (National Sprint Association) ‘Three Wheeler’ class. I have since won the championship for the last two years.

Unfortunately due to the accident I was finding it increasingly harder to use the rear brake as the movement in my right ankle had deterioated. This has now been overcome with the assistance of the NABD who have provided me with a rear thumb brake. This has made riding on the road easier and more enjoyable again.

Without the assistance of the NABD I would of had to resign myself to polishing the trike rather than riding it. Although this is a very enjoyable passtime it doesn’t make up for the joy and pleasure you get riding on the open roads.

Once again a great big thankyou to the NABD for helping me to keep on riding.
