At last I have my bike, Kliktronic, and CBT, so off I go.
I have always loved bikes, so when I was 18 I got a Puch moped (the yellow one that looked like a bike and had gears on the left twistgrip). I rode it till I was about 25. After passing my car test, it covered me for my moped, so I never took a bike test - I wish I had done.
I went to the TT in 2000 and that is where I saw the NABD and looked at the Kliktronic gear changer. I got leaflets and kept looking, thinking I might be a bit too old to start riding again, but I thought I might as well, you only live once.
My son came with me to D & K Motorcycles in Derbyshire and looked at some bikes to see what I would be OK on.
They were very helpful at D & K when I told them about my problem, as I have only my right leg; I had my left leg off when I was seven years old due to a tumour.
I bought a Yamaha TW 125. Russ was the salesman and he was really helpful. Then I rang NABD and they sent me a grant form, so I filled it in and kept my fingers crossed. I received a letter about six weeks later to say that I had got the grant. I was really pleased.
My son fitted the Kliktronic for me and has been really good helping me to get my bike all ready for me to ride. And I thank everyone at NABD for making it all possible for me to be able to ride a bike.
Now I have to take my test this time before my CBT runs out. I have two years, so that should be OK I hope.
Anyway, thank you once again for making it all possible. I can’t thank you all enough for the help and my Kliktronic gearchanger.
