Jon Brinley - No Worries

Thank you to everyone at NABD for the grant that bought my Klicktronic gearchanger kit. The kit fit so perfectly, I thought that Klicktronic must make the mounting plates specifically for each machine, but after talking to Keith at Klicktronic, he assured me it was just lucky.

The kit is very easy to fit and does what it is supposed to.

I had a couple of worries at the beginning. First was whether the unit could be mounted to my machine and, second, whether when mounted it would take up so much space that I would have to extend the footrest to enable me to rest my foot. A slightly lesser worry was how easily neutral would be found. The unit could be used vertically or horizontally from the same mounting position, unfortunately my preferred vertical position {because it gives more footrest space} wasn't suitable because it stopped access to the battery and toolkit, positioned behind the sidepanel. The control switch takes up very little space on the handlebar between the lightswitch and the grip, with a quick jab at the button, neutral is easily found.

A note to any other XT500 owners with the same idea, the Klicktronic unit does not operate a 6 volt system, and will therefore require a separate 12 volt battery.

So far so good and thanks again.
