Meet the Taylors; lan, Bridget, Olivia, & Tamsin.
An NABD family worth their weight in gold.
My name is Olivia Taylor I am thirteen years old and last year I was carnival princess for the county of Derbyshire. My chosen charity for the year was the NABD. I raised £385.55. My mum contacted the council to organize a street collection at Matlock Bath, we had a Karaoke night, and I did a Quiz sheet. I proudly presented the cheque to Rick Hulse at the end of my reign at St, Elphin's School, Darley Dale. I chose the NABD because they helped my dad to get back on a bike after 26 years. He became a complete paraplegic following a motor bike accident in 1974 and never thought it would be possible to become a fully-fledged biker again, but after meeting Rick and learning about the NABD there was no stopping him.
His GS850 Suzuki trike was built by Kev Rolo the adaptations and Kliktronic were financed through the NABD by way of a grant.
Since he has had his trike he is out on it whenever possible, all his friends have bikes so he's never short of someone to go out with and now our house has become the 'Clubhouse'.
Wherever he goes he always attracts a crowd because of his wheelchair on the back of the trike and he is keen to encourage others by talking to them. My younger sister Tamsin and I often argue about whose turn it is to have a ride but mum wants one now so we can all go out together. Last year dad took his trike to Donnington to the Mobility Roadshow on the NABD stand and my sister and I went along to help, we met Grenville, Damien, Jules and Alex, everyone was really friendly and we enjoyed ourselves. I am hoping to continue further fundraising in the near future.
