The UK Monster club organised a suspension setup day at Dave Wood Racing in Aylesbury on Sunday 13th April.
Dave Wood the highly respected and successful British Superbike rider runs a motorcycle sales and repair centre in the centre of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. Being a good friend of Terry Herbert, the president of UKMOC they arranged a suspension setup day solely for Monsters.
Most riders take for granted their suspension and assume rightly or wrongly that their suspension is set up correctly, however it is most unlikely that their bike is set up for the correct weight of the rider and style of riding.
The day was well attended with 20 Monsters arriving in the morning and 14 having their suspension tweaked. The opinion was one of astonishment, rider after rider took their newly set up bikes for a spin around the rolling country roads that surround Aylesbury and returned with broad grins not believing that such a difference could be achieved in such a short time. The difference in cornering and stability under braking or uneven roads surfaces can be quite dramatic. The overwhelming response was that it was the best £20 they had given to charity for such a marked improvement in their bike's handling.
The day raised £280.00 for the bike charity The National Association for Bikers with a Disability and all who came greatly enjoyed watching the master (Woody as he's known) tweak and turn their dampers to an improved balance.
We would like to offer a big thanks to Dave, his assistant Mark and of course his long suffering wife Jane for giving up their Sunday for a great cause.
