'Wolf Traveller' Trike

Simpson - back in the saddle after nine
years |
Firstly, a big
thanks to you and all at NABD, for the grant you
awarded to help with my adaptions and the
information I have gained from the Open House
magazine. The first trike project, called 'Fox
Trike', was going to take some time to build due
to new regulations, so the lads at Boom Trikes.
(Anthony and lan), gave me another option, to
put some adaptions on a 'Wolf Traveller' trike,
and even though this project took some time, I
must say the wait was worth it. The pictures are
numbered to help to explain the adaption work
carried out by Boom Trikes to suit the trike to
my disability.
Picture 1: This needs no explaining it's
me on the trike. Thanks to chaps like you,
Billybigbeard, and the rest of the NABD team, I
can, through your adaptions grant, have a life
on the road once again.
Picture 2: The clutch control has been
changed from a foot pedal to a hand lever
mounted on the gear stick with the master
cylinder below. The fuel filler was
re-positioned to the side of the trike. just
behind the gear stick.
Picture 3: The foot brake has been moved
to the handle bars and is servo assisted. this
photo also shows the very neat wheelchair
storage system. This is mounted between the rear
wheel and body shell. The wheelchair fits upside
down on the rack by means of two prongs that
push into arms on wheelchair. When the arms are
let down, the rack is mounted in a track, on two
wheels which you can then push up and down from
the seated position.
Picture 4: This shows the wheelchair rack
on the right side from the back view. The lads
at Boom Trikes kept the rack and track to fit on
Wolf Trike so it blended with the frame. The
foot plates with velcro straps and the seat
harness were also added to suit my disability.
Picture 5: This shows just how well a
small bear fits between the headlights. They
think of everything those lads at Boom Trikes!
The 'Wolf Traveller' is an excellent trike. It's
a two seater with a springer front end and a
1200cc VW engine.
Thanks to Anthony and lan at Boom Trikes who
helped me by keeping all other costs down as
much as possible, and now after the completion
of the project. I can tell you honestly that,
since my accident, getting on this trike and
taking that first ride was the best thrill and
joy I've had in the last nine years. Finally,
thanks once again to the NABD for the grant.
Your help was a big push in the right direction
for me, together with list of the trike builders
on the web site.

NABD grant of £1,200.00 was sponsored by
