Things We Do For The N.A.B.D. |
|
TEV THOMAS Hi back in the limelight again, this time trying to raise funds for the NABD. Well last year my sponsor buddy and I, who by the way says he's a fearless Viking and not scared of anything (frankly I think he's a chicken shit. ha! ha!) We abseiled down the Tower Building at Nottingham. After of course he'd punched me several times in the arm and called me all the bast--ds under the sun when he saw the height of the building. It all went extremely well considering I got stuck at the top of the building for about 20 minutes with the rope tangled up in my boot. Once they took my boot off and untangled the rope (the whole time of course leaving me dangling over the edge like a soggy sock) and then replaced my boot I managed to do a graceful spinning descent down the building (I think I should become a ballerina only thing is I'd be as graceful as a fairy elephant). I managed to land at the bottom in one piece. Thank God! My partner in crime on the other hand, (who made a pact beforehand, that we would go down together) flew down the side like a WET FART the moment I got stuck and stood at the bottom laughing at me. But what an excellent experience it was and we managed too raise £634 between us. Plus there was another lad from the NABD there he went down forwards and raised £400. What I want to know was he brave or just a mad Bast--d I'll leave that to you to decide. This year my brave partner in crime, otherwise known as chicken shit or Paul Smith to his acquaintances and I decided to a micro-light trial flight, what a buzz, it was excellent - a bit like riding a bike with wings. Paul went up first and was clenching his cheeks so tight it bought a smile to his face. He said he wasn't scared at all and had a fantastic time. (Yeah right, we know better don't we!) Myself on the other hand was totally relaxed of course! In fact Tim our instructor said it was a pleasure going up with someone so relaxed and chilled. We even had a little mid air dog fight and did some wonderful twists and turns he even let me steer it, excellent what a fantastic experience we both highly recommend it. This year we raised, £368.50 less than last year but hoping to raise more next year. So if you've got any brill ideas about what we can do next year let Gren (NABD Sponsorship Co-ordinator) know and he'll try to arrange it. Many thanks to everyone who helped us and sponsored us, especially Mark Shelton from MBS Plasterers and Andy Bateson From Dannisport UK. Also thanks Andy for keeping me warm on the day! Another special thanks goes to our wonderful friend Feret the local Plumber. He kept us both warm and dry. Whey Hey Hey!
