| Microlight trial flights | India ride | ||
|
A microlight is defined as a small aircraft that is great fun to fly; these little aircraft have developed over the past 10 years to an amazing level of sophistication. Single or two seat, conventional stick and rudder or flexwing controls, today's microlights are hi-tech, well engineered and beautifully built machines. They have been flown to heights of 30,000 ft. and at speeds of over 100 mph. You can experience all this for free, the NABD are looking for adventurous people to help us raise funds so that we may continue our work of helping the disabled enjoy the freedom to ride a motorcycle. We are offering a 20 minute trial microlight flight for free in return for a minimum amount of £100 sponsorship raised, of this £30 covers the expenses and £70 will be added to the adaptions fund. You can of course raise as much as you wish over the minimum sponsorship, all of any extra will be added to our funds.
Two such people who have already enjoyed this offer are Tevan Thomas and Micheal Smith. Both have supported us previously and are enthusiastically supporting this new event. Their trial flights took place on Saturday 22 September, the day started a little foggy but cleared nicely by the afternoon. Micheal's trial flight was first, after takeoff the microlight was quickly out of sight and we were left looking at blue sky, all of a sudden the microlight slipped over the hedgerow and skimmed in to land. A glance at my watch confirmed twenty minutes had gone and Micheal is back with a grin that said it all, wow. Tevan was soon aboard the plane and away in the air with the birds, again when she returned her grin said everything. There soon followed an excited chat about their flights, it is clear that they will remember this day for a long time and in doing so £368-50 has been raised for the disabled. Well done, thanks. If you would like a sponsored trial flight, contact us for an information pack. |
