I had ridden bikes since I was 16 yrs old when it all came to a sudden end.
October 1997 seemed to have bought my hiking days to an end, when I was involved in an accident that resulted in the loss of my left leg. After 3 years of trying without success to get a prosthetic limb that I could wear, I'd had enough. Everything around me was a reminder of what my life was.
I packed up and moved from Berkshire up to Lincolnshire. In the year that I have lived here I have met some of the greatest friends who have done everything to be there for me and start getting me out and about again after four and a half years. Rekindling the hope that I would be able to get on a bike or even a trike again.
When I got a call from a friend telling me where there were some trikes for sale, off I went and found my Kawasaki GT750 Trike. My boyfriend fitted the Kliktronic for me, though it wasn't a trouble free task as my trike is an older machine and the linkages tend to have a bit of play on older machines.
Due to the Kliktronic's design, only having 25mm of travel each way to change up and down, any worn parts had to be replaced. Once he had eliminated all the slack and play in the linkages, we were up and running. It took some time to sort out the Kliktronic and we do feel that it is more suited to newer machines.
My first ride was terrifying as it had been a long time since I had ridden, and it was the first trike as well as a totally new gear change. I had a 22 mile journey to get home and was getting tempted to stop in panic at about 8, but I didn't, and found myself doing 70 mph the rest of the way home. Its great, and good to be back on the road after so long.

Thanks NABD.
